Got a ticket today for parking in patient parking -- as a patient. I am also an employee and I already pay $800 per year to park where I work (T-permit). The ticket was in the orthopedic center parking lot, where I do not work, and where I was seen as a patient this morning. I called Commuter Services and, after 30 minutes on hold, I was told that I was supposed to "register my license plate at the desk". Of course, I did not see any signs to that effect either in the lot or in the building, and I have parked there at least 10 times before as a patient without any difficulty. I have never received an email about this new draconian policy, although that could easily be lost in the hundreds of emails received from this employer. Shame on U(of U)!

this event happpening right now I think Nitro circus is taking up all the U lots near my place of work on campus. They hired some thug security guards that are assaulting my peers trying to walk from a distant parking lot to work telling them they can’t walk on the pathway around lot 9. Lot 9 wasn’t even supposed to be fenced off to begin with. Commuter services is not being helpful and now my U lot employee pass is a complete waste of money. It’s taking an extra 20 minutes to walk to and from where I park.

I was a student at the U back in 2018. My mom is currently a cancer patient at huntsman. She received a ticket on her car parked at the cancer institute in the patient parking section in her own car because they thought it could have been me parked there. The only thing that would connect us is our last name and I have not attended the U since 2018. Now instead of dismissing the ticket they are requiring my mom to submit info that she is actually a cancer patient at huntsman.

Received a collections letter attempt addressed to my deceased father of 12+ years for apparently a parking violation done on 9/10/2024. Guess they found his ghost loitering in a restricted parking spot.

First notice, but the infaction is over 45 days old supposedly. No one in my household nor the VN# match up with anything. It's a level of incompetence that has managed to leave us in distress.

Drove around campus for an hour looking for parking with my U pass. Had to park in an A spot after one hour of driving around because I was going to be late for class. Submitted an appeal explaining my situation. Still have to pay the ticket.

The university should be embarrassed and ashamed of those who are employed with parking services. Just a bunch of people who are extremely power hungry. Give tickets for no other reason other than being bored. Sad and disgusting. Never have I (as well as several other students) been treated so poorly and unfairly. Don’t even bother paying for a parking spot because they’ll just ticket you anyway. Absolutely ridiculous and shameful. Why charge so much for an (unnecessary) parking ticket when the school already makes a sickening amount of money as is?!
PREDATORY BEHAVIOR!!

These guys are money collecters. The parking space becomes horrible over years and I don't see any improvement on this. Finding a parking spot during daytime is a nightmare. Super awful when you see people driving around and without being able to find a parking spot. Even under this condition, some parking lots are still closed for “special event”, which means no one else can parking inside on that day even there is one slot available. This is stupid. And all these are not over. Now construction site also takes parking lot away. But they are happy to charge people's money all day long.

They will not work with you to help pay your balance. You cannot make payments over time only pay in full. We already pay a premium to come to work and park. What we pay for parking should be calculated into our pay, especially in a position like mine where I'm delivering catering, or heavy multiple heavy boxes to laboratories. I cannot walk a mile with multiple catering players. It's ridiculous that commuter services is so inflexible and unyielding when we are simply parking to do our job for the university and if we have to park closer for a few minutes knowing we are risking a ticket it's for a good reason. Appeals rarely work even with evidence and valid justification. It just depends on who you get and how they're feeling. No matter what you cannot make payments.
