After my debacle experience with a local auto repair shop, I found myself looking at the textbooks listed for the auto repair classes on MCC website. I wrote down the ISBN number for the Brakes class. Bought access to the online version of the book, and started reading it. 3 months later, I attended the class at MCC. It was a great learning experience for me. Who knew that I would get my car sabotaged at a local repair shop, and then use the money I got back from taking that shop through the Bureau of Automotive Repair, to attend classes to learn it myself?! The owner’s son at that bad shop told me that the MCC classes were useless; however, I find that they’re very useful for me. I was able to fix my car, from their erroneous repairs.

After a period of study in this college, my experience was somewhat good, but there is something better than MiraCosta in academic and administrative terms. I think its classification compared to other universities is bad.

I attended here for a semester or two and it was a very good school. The faculty was very good and the campus was clean and well-
maintained. The school of fine arts has a very nice theater and they perform plays and musicals there, and the performances are top notch.

After attending this college for two years, I was forced to transfer when it was discovered they literally do not offer two of the classes required for me to graduate anymore. The Solana Beach location has pathetically few extracurriculars and electives. And most egregious by far, the support at this institution is the most frustrating and useless I’ve ever seen. I gave up on meeting with an admissions counselor after 1 year and 6 months, during with time I made 3 in person attempts, sent 6 emails, left 5 online help desk messages, and made over thirty phone calls and voicemail messages. My student account has also broken four times and not once was I able to reach tech support to help with it. Calling anyone at the school results in an insulting long phone tree of prerecorded messages eventually ending with an automated voice telling you business hours are over (they’re not) and to leave a message which is then never seen. Some of the classes were good, and a lot of the teachers were quite nice. Unfortunately that doesn’t matter much when you can’t sign up for those classes because your account ate itself for the fourth time and precisely no one is willing to help you. I’ve never seen an institution with such little respect for its own students and I’m frankly glad to be rid of it.

Great school for a community college. I heard it’s the best around. Many students come from San Diego or from the North just to go here. They do a lot of things by hand (compared to other schools that do things electronically). The grounds are well kept. The parking is horrible during the beginning of the semester. More parking will be available as time comes. When you register for a class, you need to pay the same day or you get dropped. If you’ve dropped a lot of classes, the school might give you a hold because the classes are impacted. There is a daycare center. Parking permits and books are relatively cheaper than most.
