The Cadlelight Vivaldi event was well organized, the music was beautiful, I enjoyed it.
The only thing was this was for audiences 8 years and over and a baby was in the auditorium making baby sounds. It was distracting, people paid to go listen to musicians playing beautiful music, this was no place to bring a baby. People feel so entitled these days though, I'm surprised they didn't bring a "service" dog.

Amazing experience. CSU Bakersfield doing Covid vaccines for anyone that wants one. All thats needed is photo ID. Very professional, very friendly, and very quick staff. The entire time from parking in the abundant parking spaces to walking to the facility, waiting in line, getting the show, waiting the 15 minutes, and leaving was less than an hour. Thank you to everyone the set up, ran, and administered the vaccines. Your staff are the real heros. The participants even were on point by following the guidelines to make the experience enjoyable.

Class of 2007 here. CSUB is looking pretty rough these days. I live nearby and walk my dog through there daily. Students drive recklessly. Doordashers are even worse drivers bringing the students their food. Cars blast onto Kroll leaving campus at warp speed and I've almost been hit in my own vehicle multiple times. Students walk into traffic phone to nose, I guess assuming cars will stop for them. I guess you really can't teach common sense.

It's dangerous and the students seem sketchier every year. With only a 36% graduation rate it seems like a huge waste of taxpayer money. I would figure BC would supply all the need for higher education you would want in Bakersfield. Anyone wanting more than BC can offer is probably going out of town to a better school anyway. CSUB now seems just like a spot to hang with the homies on the tax payer dime.

Campus PD are non-existent (although one popped out of thin air to pull me over for no front license plate while driving through even though 90% of student cars don't have them) so you're basically on your own if a student has beef with you or you get hit by some tuner car going 30mph over the speed limit while ignoring all stop signs. CSUB seems to be the perfect example of the current education system in America these days. Just keep pushing the kids through the system until they get here. I'm honestly surprised that the graduation rate is so low. That at least proves that CSUB does have some kind of educational standards in place for the time being. I still have to wonder though how much taxpayer money is wasted per student while they're marking time until they drop out.

The campus is poorly maintained. The overflowing trash cans bring in the cockroaches. Students just throw their food on the walkways also. Disgusting! Walking through at night reminds me of the bug tunnel from Temple of Doom. Lawns are either over grown or dying. It's really sad to see the school this way. I have great memories of my time here when I went after the military. It seems like this all happened in a few years too. If you have children looking for a serious education, I'd recommend another campus. I never finished my MSW program and probably never will. I have no desire to return to this campus.

Edit:
A new wrinkle to this saga of a review appears! If you're like me and a rental serf in this economy, know that if you rent next door to this campus, the students will use the foliage around facility entrance to party and smoke dope at all hours of the day or night. You will hear them loudly carrying on blasting their music late into the night most every night. Campus PD has no jurisdiction because the dorms are not CSU property apparently. The inmates quite literally run the asylum. Waste your private security's or BPD's time to roust them away and they'll be back the next day and in greater numbers. They've hurled insults as I walk my dog past on our nightly trips out. It's a nightmare so thanks CSUB for bringing this to our doorsteps.

Know that while you're paying out the nose for a roof over your head you'll be paying for theirs, and their tuition, and their food, and their pretty much everything, as they slowly drive you crazy at night, with your tax money! I have never seen such a group of entitled and disrespectful people in my life. This is adult day care and nothing more. I guess as the saying goes, it keeps them off the streets. These are your future scholars Bakersfield. Absolute trash! Let them destroy CSUB, send you kids elsewhere if you want them to have an actual education.
